Juicing for Gastrointestinal Healing

Still feeling stuffed since Thanksgiving? Here’s what I’m juicing lately to aid digestion. Enjoy!

Tummy Soother
Ingredients:
1 apple
1 inch chunk fresh ginger – if you can tolerate more try a 3 inch chunk
½ cucumber
1 fennel stalk
1 slice fresh pineapple (approximately 1 inch thick)

Makes approx 12 ounces (1 1/2 cups).

GI Tonic
Ingredients:
½ apple
2 carrots
large handful of fresh spinach
½ head cabbage

Makes approximately 8 ounces (1 cup).
The most important ingredients here are: cabbage (contains glutamine to fuel small intestine cells, promoting gut healing), pineapple (contains bromelain which decreases inflammation, aids digestion and breaks down scar tissue), fennel (reduces gas formation in the gut), cucumber (decreases swelling of tissues), ginger (improves circulation to the GI lining and reduces inflammation and abdominal pain).

Feel free to try different combinations of the above ingredients.
